How eBay seller fees work (as of Oct 2026)
For most US sellers without an eBay Store subscription, eBay charges two things when an item sells: a final value fee (a percentage) and a per-order fee (a fixed amount). There is no separate payment processing fee; it is built into the final value fee.
The fee is charged on the total amount of the sale
This is the part most sellers miss. eBay’s final value fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale: item price, plus shipping and handling, plus sales tax, plus any other fees the buyer pays. A $50 item with $8 shipping and $4.64 tax is charged on $62.64, not $50. The calculator always builds that total for you.
Rates by category

- Trading cards, comics, and coins & paper money (not bullion): 13.25% up to $7,500, plus 2.35% above.
- Athletic shoes (sneakers): 8% with no per-order fee when the sale is $150 or more; 13.6% plus the per-order fee below $150.
- Books, movies & music: 15.3% up to $7,500, plus 2.35% above.
- Jewelry & watches: 15% if the sale is $5,000 or less; 9% if it’s more.
- Watches, parts & accessories: 15% up to $1,000, 6.5% from $1,000 to $7,500, and 3% above that.
- Women’s bags & handbags: 15% up to $2,000; 9% above $2,000.
- Guitars & basses: 6.7% up to $7,500, plus 2.35% above.
- Bullion: 13.6% if the sale is $7,500 or less; 7% on the whole sale above that.
The per-order fee: $0.30 or $0.40
Every order also pays a fixed fee: $0.30 if the order total is $10.00 or less, and $0.40 if it is over $10.00. On cheap items this matters: an $8 sale pays $1.09 plus $0.30, or about 17% in fees.

- Surcharges for Below Standard sellers or very high “item not as described” return rates.
Your profit also depends on what you actually pay for the label. Enter it in “Your shipping label cost” and compare it with the shipping you charged.
